Sue Crudgington
My ceramics have evolved over the years and continue to do so as I change, experiment and develop my ideas. My inspiration comes from the shapes and patterns of organic and man made forms gathered on my travels and from my home county of Staffordshire.
My work is thrown in the main but I am experimenting more with hand building. I use both Earthenware and Stoneware bodies and my work includes decoration using wax, coloured slips and oxides, lustres, surface textures and glazes.
More recently I have ventured into the realm of Raku, being drawn by the drama and unpredictability of the process.
My aim is to produce work that incorporates forms and unusual mark making along with bold brush strokes and bursts of colour.
