I have studied ceramics at evening class for thirty years and for the last few years I have been a member of the Potter’s Whail co-operative studio group.

My preferred method of making is throwing because it gives a satisfying, symmetrical and functional result in the fastest time.  My mugs and dishes generally have no handles, being inspired by Japanese bowls and tea mugs – in particular the work of Takeshi Yasuda.  Other inspiration has come from some great teachers and nearly everything in Ceramic Review.

I tend to make more carefully engineered pots while I would like to be more spontaneous.  One day I hope I shall achieve the perfect harmonious blend of balance, crispness and spontaneity.
